This week we have been celebrating Simchat Torah in our classroom. Today, we made stained glass Star of Davids as part of that celebration! In Olive, we have been using brushes to apply glue. Using a bottle and brush allows for our children to practice their pre-handwriting skills! Our class has been very interested in exploring glue. It is such an interesting thing for our twos to explore; it is kind of like paint, but of so sticky! We also liked experimenting with how to get the tissue paper to stick to our stars. We tried applying the glue to the stars first, then tried applying it to the paper, some friends even tried gluing multiple pieces of paper together before sticking it to the star!
At our light table we explored the concepts of light and dark. A clear bin on top of the table contains dried black beans that blocks out the light from underneath them! We also added some LED tealights to the bin to at to the light. Friends moved the beans around in the bin making different patterns with the light. This activity was quite a hit and we were able to use it as an opportunity to work on asking for a turn, and respecting the requests of other friends for more physical space.
